Last updated July 10, 2020

As part of the University of Miami’s proactive response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to prioritize the health and safety of our community and the broader communities we serve, many Summer 2020 Division of Continuing and International Education programs that are traditionally taught on campus will be offered remotely. This decision is guided by the recommendations of leading health officials and intended to reduce the potential of the spread of the coronavirus. Select courses may transition to on-campus instruction later in the summer if it is deemed safe to do so.

  • Intensive English Program, Intensive Spanish Program, and custom language programs

As communities reopen across the United States, the University of Miami continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic closely. On June 15, the University announced a plan to return to on-campus, in-person instruction for Fall 2020. While some details are still being refined, we have made substantial progress and important decisions regarding our fall semester plan. The wellbeing of our community remains our highest priority, and, in that respect, we are fortunate to have a world-class health system in UHealth and the very best minds in public health guiding our efforts.

In addition to the on-campus learning option, the University of Miami Intensive English Program is offering a remote learning option to students who are unable to attend the program on campus in the fall. This option will allow you to begin your academic journey at the University of Miami from the comfort of your home in August 2020 and transition to on-campus instruction the following semester.

Please note that you do not need a valid student visa to start your English program remotely in August 2020.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email the IEP team at iep@miami.edu or 305-284-2752.
