The measures outlined below are guided by the recommendations of leading health officials and by our priority to safeguard the health and well-being of our community.

    • Select courses may transition to on-campus instruction later in the summer if it is deemed safe to do so.
    • Extended advising hours for Bachelor of General Studies students are available Monday through Thursday via Navigate. If you have any questions, please call 305-284-2727 on Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Outside of course instruction, all University operations will continue as normal, and faculty and staff are expected to maintain their normal work schedules and activities.

To help faculty create online courses that engage learners, the Division's Distance Learning Institute (DLI) launched the DLI Online Course Development Series. The series offers open forums that focus on transitioning to a successful online learning model. To register for a session or learn more, visit dli.dcie.miami.edu.

Additional resources for faculty members and students are located on the University's academic and business continuity site.

Students have been sent an email from the B.G.S. and non-degree staff that indicate important next steps.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your B.G.S. team at bgs@miami.edu or 305-284-2727.

The measures we have taken are guided by the recommendations of leading health officials and by our priority to safeguard the health and well-being of our community.

Students have been contacted directly by phone and/or email with specific instructions regarding their program.

  • Intensive English Program, Intensive Spanish Program, and custom language programs

All Intensive Language Institute programs, except the Intensive English Program (IEP), will be offered in a remote learning format as part of the University of Miami’s proactive response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to prioritize the health and safety of our community and the broader communities we serve.

The IEP will be offering classes in person and remotely. Students who would like to attend in-person classes can join us on campus, and students facing international travel restrictions or other significant challenges can request to take their courses virtually. This option will allow students to begin their academic journey at the University of Miami from the comfort of their home.

Please note that a valid student visa is not needed to start the English program remotely.

The measures we have taken are guided by the recommendations of leading health officials and our priority to safeguard the health and well-being of our community.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email the IEP team at iep@miami.edu or 305-284-2752.
