Non-Degree Alumni Status

Use your UMAA connection! Return to campus to learn again, taking credit courses in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Communication, and School of Education & Human Development at a special Alumni rate. All University of Miami graduates are eligible for this special Lifelong Learning Benefit. Students may take whatever courses are of interest, that they may have missed the opportunity to enroll in previously while completing degree requirements. From Anthropology to Theatre Arts and all the disciplines in between, they may choose a course or collection of courses (maximum two courses per discipline) to meet professional or personal goals.The Alumni Rate Program offered by the Division of Continuing & International Education is the opportunity for holders of UM degrees (both undergraduate and graduate degrees) to take courses, on a space available basis, in the College of Arts and Sciences at the special rate of $825 per credit hour for Fall 2017, Spring 2018, and Summer 2018. The special rate for Academic Year 2018-2019 is $850 per credit (subject to change).


  • Limited to a maximum of 12 undergraduate credits per semester (30 lifetime credit limit).
  • Limited to two courses per academic department (lifetime).
  • Limited to classes only from the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Communication, and School of Education & Human Development only (Restrictions do apply and NOT all classes in the participating schools and colleges are open for Alumni Rate Enrollment).
  • Limited to selected courses is permitted on a space-available basis (must have 3 or more open spots).
  • Permitted to enroll only two days prior to first day of class.
  • Limited to enrollment in undergraduate credit (including 500 level courses) that will not be considered for graduate credit at a later date.

Please Note: International Alumni will not be issued I-20 forms.

Interested Alumni must submit an online application. Once the application is approved and processed, Alumni will be asked to email the course request two days before the start of the semester. It is that easy to be on the way to continued learning at the University of Miami.

BE ADVISED: Non-Degree Graduate Status, Non-Degree Undergraduate Status, Non-Degree Alumni Status, etc., each have unique requirements, regulations, and pricing.  Once an Alumni applies and/or  registers in any specific student status,  their status CANNOT be changed for that semester.
